From Software have shared the details of a new free update coming February 5 to Dark Souls 2: The Scholar of the First Sin. Among other things, they’re adding a new character, the Scholar of the First Sin.
There is also a new item, the Agape Ring, which absorbs souls collected from kills during online play. This gives players more control over online matchmaking.
Typical of From, they share zero details on who the Scholar is or what role he or she will play in the game, but they did include details on what they have fixed. We’ve picked out the most important fixes below:
· Item description fixed.
· Entering the Covenant of Champions allows enemies to respawn after being beaten, and inflict more damage.
· Bonfire warp selection screen shows top three areas players are likely to connect online.
· Players on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd playthroughs can now play together.
· Easier overall online matchmaking.
· Players can cancel Human Effigy effect at bonfires.
· When Human Effigy effect stops players from going online, they can still write signs.
· Load times shortened for PS3 version.
· Calibrations no longer save on title screen.
· Ending can now be skipped after playing through once.
· Old Iron King’s Crown effect now works throughout game.
· Online play rewards adjusted.
Players will now earn the Illusory Ring of a Conqueror and Illusory Ring of the Exalted when they finish the game, even if their inventory is full. As soon as the player opens up room in their inventory the rings will be added in.
