PlayStation TV Gets Price Cut at US Retailers

January 8, 2015 by Stephen Daly

It’s not an official cut, however.

GameSpot reports that several US retailers have reduced the price of Sony's PlayStation TV micro console, but the platform holder has confirmed that these cuts are retailer specific rather than an official reduction.

The PlayStation TV launched in September for $100 or $140 for the system with a controller. Retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart are selling the system for $80 and the system and controller for $100.

Despite not being official, Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop all list the reduced prices as non-sale offers, suggesting they might be permanent.

A PlayStation representative commented "these price drops are indeed retailer specific," so if you want to take advantage it might be a good idea to do so soon before the offers end.

PlayStation TV was released in October, and allows users to play select Vita games on their TV, as well as PS One and PSP Games. The system can also play PS4 games via Remote Play and PS3 games through PlayStation Now.
