Origin Users Reporting Unwanted Charges to Their Accounts

December 30, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

You may want to go check your Origin account.

The Origin service offers players yet another outlet to purchase and download games. While many users don't actually sign up for the service by choice, it's become the go-to, even for massive releases like Dragon Age: Inquisition.

For those gamers who do indeed have an account with Origin, there's been a very surprising development. Apparently, a number of users are reporting that there have been charges placed on their accounts that they did not initiate. This is very worrisome, as Origin controls some really sensitive information of those who sign up.

Some are looking at the November hacking of Origin, which was made by group DerpTrolling. They reported to have stolen information from over 1.7 million Origin accounts, but nobody really took this threat seriously. Maybe the group actually did get some valuable information, and after seeing the success of Lizard Squad and their hacking of Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE, have decided to take the next step.
