New Steam Controller Sketch Looks Slightly Different from Original

December 17, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Another day, another controller.

Steam is a service that goes nearly unmatched in the realm of PC gaming. The Valve-developed program offers gamers a myriad of different incentives for its use, namely the sweet deals that are posted up weekly. There's always a new sale or something that's making the rounds. However, Valve wants Steam to flourish and grow even more than it already is.

Valve is developing a 'Steam controller,' which will be compatible with games published on the Steam service. The controller was originally announced back in July, and was received with a lot of positivity from gamers and media alike. It would appear that Valve knows what their fans want.

At any rate, the original design was good, but Valve must think it could be better. They've announced that they plan to redesignt he controller, and have even provided a sketch so we can get an idea of what it's going to look like. Honestly, not much has changed, but maybe there's an ergonomic thing that we're missing. The sketch, which we've provided below, doesn't show the underside of the controller. The biggest change is the addition of directional indicator on the left touchpad.

Take a look at Valve's sweet, new design:

We're very excited here at Gameranx to get our hands on this new controller. While we've grown comfortable with our Playstation, Xbox and Wii controllers, it'll be interesting to see just how successful the Steam controller will be.

What do you think of the new controller? Let us know in the comments below.
