Final Fantasy Vll will Cost $16 on the Playstation 4

December 15, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Not too absurd.

Square Enix is a pretty big developer. They've crafted an enormous number of titles over the years, many outside of the Final Fantasy name finding success as well. They went through a rough patch just a couple of years ago, but they appear to be back on the horse and are churning out quality titles at a pace we've not seen from them… ever.

The studio is currently set to release Final Fantasy 15 in 2015, though we don't know exactly when. There have been multiple gameplay trailers and technology demos of the game, so we're hoping that it doesn't get pushed back even further. Kingdom Hearts 3 is also due out next year, with all the bells and whistles of the eighth console generation available to Tetsuya Nomura, who is leading the development charge on the title. With these two games on the horizon, Square Enix has put themselves back in the limelight.

Another major entry into their library of games comes in a very recent remake, which has quietly gone under the radar, much to our surprise. Final Fantasy Vll was recently announced as a remake for the Playstation 4, though it will likely be a port of the PC remake. While the word 'port' has a negative connotation to it, I don't see this is a bad thing. Say what you will about PC gaming, the hardware involved is and probably will be the strongest in video games. This should mean that the port will run well on the Playstation 4.

Square Enix recently announced that Final Fantasy VII will cost gamers $16 on the Playstation 4. That's a little above average for a downloadable content package, even if it is a full game remaster. We're talking about a game that came out well over a decade ago. To put it in perspective, this was the game that made everybody believe in Sony's Playstation. All that said, there are probably few Final Fantasy fans who will have an issue shelling out a few extra bucks to get their hands on this remake.
