Link Is the Best-Selling amiibo So Far

December 11, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Mario and Pikachu are second and third, respectively.

Forget about hardware and software sales for a minute, and let's talk about little plastic toys. Nintendo's amiibo figurines launched last month alongside Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and despite some frustrating blocks on the collector's road, they've been doing remarkably well. Yes, but which one is doing the best?

According to Nintendo's NPD PR report, it is Link, not Mario, who most shoppers long for. The mustachioed man settles for second place, while Pikachu rounds out the top three. The company didn't announce where the rest fall on the ladder, but I think we all know which characters are on the bottom three rungs.

The second wave of amiibo — Diddy Kong, Zelda, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Pit, and Little Mac — are undergoing a staggered rollout throughout the country, with some retailers already reporting supply. Nintendo may not restock any of these until after the holiday season, so be quick if you want them now.
