Epic Explores the Art of Fortnite’s Monsters in New Trailer

December 10, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Studio shows off original concept art for much darker game.

Epic Games’ action building game, Fortnite, launched its first alpha test earlier this month and to mark the occasion, the studio has released a new trailer exploring the philosophy behind the art and enemy design of the game.

In the video, Art Director Pete Ellis explains how the game went from being a "really really terrifying over-the-top scary experience" to its present lighthearted colourful design. He show off concept art of both the original vision for the game the current aesthetic.

Epic is currently seeking more players for the next stage of alpha testing, and you can sign-up on the game's website for a chance to take part.

Fortnite sees players amass materials by day to build a base which can survive the zombie onslaught at night.

The current alpha runs until December 19th.
