Scrolls Launch Trailer Shows Updated Gameplay

December 10, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Finally, the game comes out of beta.

I remember playing Scrolls way earlier this year. I had gotten a bit tired of Hearthstone, and I wanted to try something else out. I bought Scrolls on the Steam marketplace, and had no idea that it was still in beta. The experience was a really interesting one, and while I'm not sure Scrolls has the credentials to stand up against other titles close to the genre, I do feel that it's a solid experience. There's lots of content, a pretty expansive campaign to attempt, and you've even got the ability to play against others.

In Scrolls, players must fight to destroy the opponent's five pillars. These sit at the end of their side of the battlefield, and can only be damaged when an enemy is not standing in front of them. This means you've got to fight your way through the opposing player's team before you can even get started on the main objective. It creates a cool, new dynamic for collectible card games, even if it is an only-online title. One thing I will say about Scrolls is that the learning curve is pretty steep. It's very easy to get through the first few levels, but the difficulty gets upped very quickly. Scrolls is a game for smart people, and sometimes it made me feel like I had the IQ of a goldfish.

In the game's official launch trailer, you'll get to see some of the finished gameplay that we've been waiting for. While many would argue that Scrolls has been finished for a long time now, there's still going to be some minute changes made to the game in order to improve the overarching experience.

Here's the trailer!
