Destiny 2 Will Be Banning Accounts If Caught Boosting Or Farming

August 25, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

Bungie sets out a new guideline for account recoveries.

Destiny 2 is still quite the massive hit for Bungie. The studio brings out new seasonal updates filled with fresh content for players to enjoy. However, just like with any competitive or online multiplayer video game, players can bend the rules a bit. It’s not uncommon for services to pop up that allow a company to help you progress. Today we’re finding out that Bungie is putting a stop to this practice.

Account recoveries are often used for these services. A player will pay a company or individual to hop onto their account for some time. From there, the account would be used for an assortment of things. For example, you might see the account get boosted for XP, earning items, finishing quests, among other daily tasks. As mentioned, this is done for a wide variety of video games. We’ve even heard of companies popping up to support Animal Crossing New Horizons with players paying to ensure that their location is free from weeds.

Now Bungie has updated its guidelines with restrictions to these services. Players caught using a paid service to recover an account for any boosting will lead to a ban. This means you’ll need to put in the work yourself to get through Destiny 2 or find that specific item in the game. With that said, not everything will result in a ban for account recoveries. Bungie did list some areas in which account recoveries are not recommended but won’t get you banned.

For instance, players can allow an account recovery if they are a parent and allow their kid to grind Lost Sectors. Likewise, players can enable friends to try out a weapon roll or even if you live with roommates that share a common room console. Below is the official list of potential restrictions for account recoveries.

What could get you banned or restricted:

  • Charging others to recover their account for boosting, earning items, completing content, etc.
  • Recovering accounts in exchange for anything of value including but not limited to Patreon supporters, subscribers, follows, gift cards, etc.
  • Paying someone to recover your account to be boosted, have items earned, etc.
  • Boosting recoveries done for free can also result in bans or restrictions.
