Ori And The Blind Forest Delayed To Early 2015

November 24, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The game will have spent four to five years in development by the time it releases.

Microsoft has revealed that Ori and the Blind Forest will be delayed to early 2015.

The Microsoft Game Studios-published title will be coming out on both Xbox One and Steam, and then will come to Xbox 360 later in the year. Based on this timeline, it will have spent four to five years in development upon release.

In a message on their site, developer Moon Studios explains that they decided to delay in conjunction with Microsoft Studios, after reviewing the progress of development and deciding that they needed to add another layer of polish to it.

Moon Studios describes Ori as a Metroidvania-style title, with a strong focus on platforming and added light RPG elements. The whole game has a gorgeous look, reminiscent of oil paintings with its deep, bright colors. It is described as a coming of age story, centered on a forest sprit. The developers cite Nintendo games like Super Metroid and The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past as inspiration, as well as 2D animated films like The Iron Giant, The Lion King, and the works of Studio Ghibli.
