EA Servers Down, Hacker Group Claims Responsibility Via DDOS Attack

November 24, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The issue affects practically every EA game, although some games are more dependent on the servers than others.

EA has confirmed that their game servers are currently down. A hacker group has taken responsibility for this, claiming their servers were DDOS’d.

EA Support’s official Twitter account confirmed this status as of nine hours ago. They did not elaborate on the cause for the outage, but they explained that it impacts players’ abilities to sign in to EA games and services. They also did not elaborate if this led to any breach of any user info.

EA’s servers are currently down. This may impact sign in ability to EA games/services. We’re working to resolve this as quickly as possible.

The hacker group claiming responsibility for the hack is the same one who claimed to have attacked Blizzard, PSN, Rockstar, 2K and others in the past few days. It should be noted that the group has not provided subsequent proof that they were responsible for the hack in this case.

EA has integrated their servers in pretty much every game they publish, but this does not mean all games are unplayable. As this fan points out, Dragon Age games are still playable, including the recently released Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Still, a substantial part of their library has taken a hit, including FIFA 15, NHL, Madden 15, Battlefield 4, and Plants Versus Zombies: Garden Warfare. Even their mobile games, such as Simpsons: Tapped Out, were affected.

Are you playing any EA games right now and are affected by this? Share your experiences in the comments.
