Here we have two completely different scenarios. Minecraft, which is currently in the prime of its veritable life and Sony's PlayStation VITA, which has been struggling to even stay afloat admist competition from Nintendo's 3DS system. When the Vita released it got many gamers excited for near PlayStation 3-level graphics in the palm of your hand. Sony hasn't followed through on its promises of a large library of games, though. We're still waiting and the system came out back in 2011. Minecraft, which also released in 2011, has been conquering the marketplace for quite some time. Originally a PC title, the game has made its way on to nearly every platform available at the moment.
Finally, it appears that Minecraft will be seeing a release on the PlayStation Vita. While we have to be fair in noting the Vita's failures, there's also something to be said for a Minecraft on Sony's handheld. The little gaming device is a very powerful piece of hardware and should manage to run the game more smoothly than anything else you can take on the go – except for perhaps an iPad. This is an example of why dedicated gaming handhelds still have some say in the overarching marketplace. While they might mingle with applications like Facebook and such, their main focus will always be to play video games better than other mobile devices. It's also not really fair to compare it to an iPad, as you can't stuff one of those down into your pocket.
Minecraft will be available digitally for the PlayStation Vita system next week after Sony's weekly Store Update. A retail version of the game will be up for grabs on November 11, 2014.
