Ryse: Son of Rome Trailer Accompanies PC Launch

October 10, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Ryse: Son of Rome makes one last push forward.

Ryse: Son of Rome began as a launch title for the Xbox One. Leading up to the game's initial November 22, 2013 release, lots of people had been fostering a growing excitement for the game. Shortly before Ryse hit store shelves, the review scores came in. The game was lackluster in many areas and was criticized for its overabundance of cinematic gameplay. While this hasn't stopped titles like God of War from finding success, Ryse was unable to find success.

This hasn't stopped Crytek from trying to turn a profit with the game. Today, a PC version of the game came out. This version was accompanied with a brand new trailer, showing what sort of improvements you can expect. Most notable among these is the game's resolution, which clocks in at 4K. This shiny new resolution seems to be turning into the standard for TV and video. Video games will surely be following suit very soon. Ryse: Son of Rome on PC will come with all four downloadable content packages already available, so you won't have to wait for any of them to release. This, with the improved graphics, makes Ryse stand above the crowd once again.

We're excited to see what comes of the game in its improved state. It could just flop once more, but with a new audience and sharper tools being utilized, the only failure that remains is the game's focus on cinematic gameplay. Personally, I don't see this as a bad thing, but I can understand the argument that it detracts from the experience by basically playing the game for you.

Check out the trailer in all its 4K glory!
