Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition Trailer Released, Uses DirectX 11 On PC

September 25, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition may be the first game to demonstrate if DirectX 11 will make a difference for Xbox and PC.

Square Enix and United Front Games have shared a new trailer for Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, now confirmed to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows via Steam.

Definitive Edition will package the main game and all 24 DLC packs, including the three story based expansions, namely Nightmare in North Point, Zodiac Tournament, and Year of the Snake.

However, United Front Games reveals that they have gone above and beyond the usual remaster, and are using the power available in eight generation consoles. Graphics have been upgraded to native 1080p, although Square did not mention the other popular performance metric, 60FPS.

United Front has also worked on the game’s atmospheric effects, so that there are improved rain effects and larger crowds. The game’s audio and presentation have also received improvements.

However, there is one more thing that isn’t mentioned in the trailer at all, but Square Enix has discreetly revealed.

A look at Square Enix Europe’s preorder page for the PC version of the game reveals that the new game will be using DirectX 11. Is it possible that this is the first game to demonstrate the advantages of using DirectX 11 for PC and Xbox?

Is this enough to convince you to get Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
