Square Enix has announced Triad Wars, a free-to-play PC game which acts as a follow-up to the well received 2012 games Sleeping Dogs.
The open world strategy title is being developed by United Front Games and uses the same engine and technology as Sleeping Dogs meaning you can expect the same gameplay, combat, and racing as its more story-focused companion.
Rather than follow a set narrative, the game sees players pursue their own agenda in order to build a crime empire and compete with others for control of territory and resources.
Activities include extortion, hacking, and money laundering as you rise to the top and Square Enix describes the game as follows:
"Set in the vibrant city of Hong Kong & Sleeping Dogs universe, Triad Wars is an online open-world action adventure PC game where you rise to power as a criminal kingpin of the Triad underworld."
Triad Wars is expected to launch in 2015 and you can sign up for the closed beta on the game's website now. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
