Last week, we were surprised to learn that Sherlock Holmes and Watson would be joining the cast of the latest Ace Attorney, which is set during the Meiji era and stars Phoenix Wright's ancestor, Ryunosuke Naruhodo. Tokyo Game Show has provided us with a new trailer that demonstrates Holmes' skill, and he couldn't be a bigger show-off.
Naruhodo and his paralegal Susato Mikotoba travel to England in order to meet Holmes and the young pink-haired Watson. During their first encounter, Holmes is able to deduce that Mikotaba is hiding an English law book in her kimono and that the direction her gaze is directed indicates that she's often deep in thought, leading to the conclusion that she's Naruhodo's assistant. Of course, Naruhodo reminds Holmes that he had just introduced her a few seconds ago, so what was the point of all that if not just to flaunt his deductive abilities?
As you can see in the trailer, this is most definitely Ace Attorney as you remember it. You can even spot a man who greatly resembles the ineffective prosecutor Winston Payne from previous installments. I hope to see more ancestors of beloved characters, like maybe the great-grandfather of Dick Gumshoe.
The Great Ace Attorney hits 3DS in Japan in 2015. No Western release has been announced yet.
