Mass Effect In Sims 4: This Lamp References BioWare’s RPG

September 15, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Sims 4 makes a shoutout to Mass Effect.

The Sims 4 is out, and boy is it a doozy. Filled with all manner of references and jokes, the game makes a call out to Electronic Arts’ series of action role-playing games from BioWare, Mass Effect.

The reference to Mass Effect in The Sims 4 comes in the form of a ceiling lamp, one of the game’s many purchasable items that players can see fit to decorate their home with.

It’s the “Normandic Light,” a reference to the Normandy, Mass Effect’s high-tech spacecraft, bastion, and base of operations for Commander Shepard and his or her group of space heroes.

Just in case you weren’t completely convinced that the lamp is a reference to BioWare’s game, the description for the Normandic Light reads, “When omniscient cuttlefish attack, take heart! This hanging light will save the galaxy with its sleek lines and high-tech components.”

The cuttlefish of course refers to the Reapers, who look a lot like gigantic cuttlefish.
