Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is not bringing back Field Orders. This was briefly addressed by Activision’s Michael Condrey on Twitter.
Field Orders were introduced in Call of Duty Ghosts. They were manifested as a floating blue suitcase that would pop up on the body of the first player that gets killed. If you walk over the suitcase, you will get a random order. Accomplishing these orders give you rewards, such as max ammo. On higher levels, you can earn rewards such as KEM Strikes and Mortar Fire.
Some fans were unhappy with the Field Orders system. For one, the rewards and picking up of Field Orders in itself was randomized. A player could do something very difficult, and get very poor rewards, such as a vest. Another concern was having to find whoever got the suitcase.
Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is the first game to be headed by Sledgehammer Games, and everything Sledgehammer has revealed so far indicated a clean break from prior games. After all, even KEM Strikes are not coming back. This was no different, and for fans who did not like Call of Duty Ghosts, this was welcome news.
Call of Duty Advanced Warfare will be released on Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
