The Sims 4 Digital Edition Discovered at 20% Off

September 5, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Just in time for The Sims 4 rest-of-the-world September 5th release date

For players interested in The Sims 4, a nice little surprise cropped up less than a few hours ago in the form of a 20% off discount code on the digital edition of the game. While we are now in the era of constant digital PC game sales, generally AAA titles from EA have a rather strict MSRP and discounts are few and far in between from retailers – of which The Sims 4 is one such title (you'll be hard pressed to find pre-order deals on The Sims 4 last week).

Things changed up a bit as we hit release week today. The Sims 4 can now be found at UK-based digital retailer GMG for 20% off, a deal previously non-existed for North American players. For those interested, at checkout use coupon 1EUYMC-XPDZG8-KOF6WX and you'll be able to snag the game for only $48.00.

The Origin key will be displayed instantly after purchasing (and also sent to your email), so all you'll have to do is plug the product key within your Origin client and start the 8.57 GB download.

Just in time for the rest of the world's release, the game is also available on a bigger percentage based discount for those in the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe. In the UK, The Sims 4 Limited Edition is priced in at £30 after a 24% off instant savings stacking with the previously mentioned 20% off code. For the rest of EU, you'll net a 16% instant savings stacking with coupon to arrive at the €40 price.

Both are big discounts as far as new AAA release goes, and for fans of the series its a solid deal – no matter the reviews released thus far for the game.

Players in Europe will still be able lay claim to the "Limited Edition" of The Sims 4, which contains the "Life of the Party" DLC content, including furnishing such as the Flaming Tiki Bar. Unlike European players, those in North America who didn't pre-order would have already missed out on the Limited Edition, and the only way you can grab the Tiki Bar (for now) is via the pricier The Sims 4 Digital Deluxe Edition at Origin for $69.99.

Is the three extra digital content pack included in the Digital Deluxe worth the extra $21.99? Unless you're a hardcore Sims fan, probably not. You'll be better off saving that money to towards the eventual expansion packs for The Sims 4.
