Like Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, Halo 3 will be getting a HD makeover for the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a bundle exclusive to the Xbox One. The bundle is also set to include Halo 4 and a time-limited multiplayer beta for Halo 5: Guardians.
Over at PAX this past weekend, the Halo developers at 343 Industries previewed the Halo 3 campaign, showcasing footage of the updated game.
Unlike Halo 2 however, the game has not been completely remastered (as it mostly still manages to look decent) but its lighting engine, framerate, and resolution have all been bolstered.
The game was showcased at 60fps and 1080p, which is much more defined and more fluid than its original settings on the Xbox 360, where it ran at 30fps and 640p.
“We have made a tremendous amount of work on those games, to make them run at 60 frames per second, at 1080p,” said the 343 spokesperson, who then showcased the game in action to the audience.
“A lot of individual detail is coming through, which you couldn’t see prior to that,” said the developer of the game’s new graphics.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set for release on November 11, 2014. It is exclusive to the Xbox One.
