The subscription cost for World of Warcraft is set to rise in the UK by a single pound every month.
In addition to all the new content being delivered in the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion pack, Warlords of Draenor, including its highly publicized graphical overhaul, British players are going to see a price hike for the game.
The subscription prices in pound sterling (GBP) will be increased starting November 13, 2014—the date upon which Warlords of Draenor will be released.
The price increases are as follows:
30 Days: £8.99 -> £9.99
90 Days: £25.17 -> £28.17
180 Days: £46.14 -> £52.14
Fortunately, the recommended retail price for a pre-paid 90-day subscription card remains at £20.99, making it the cheapest and most affordable way to play the game.
Needless to say, the price hike brings the game’s price in the UK to be more in line with its European counterparts on the mainland.
Blizzard has stated that players can save on their subscription fees by locking in their present subscription rate for a longer duration of time. Blizzard said players who have recurring subscriptions at the time of the change will keep the old price for two years, as long as they don’t let the subscription lapse in that time.
“We regularly look at our pricing around the world and from time to time we make changes in light of local and regional market conditions,” Blizzard said.
No plans have been announced to hike the price up for the game in the United States, greater Europe, or anywhere else.
