Call of Duty: Black Ops II on Wii U Is Only Now Getting the Nuketown 2025 Map

August 11, 2014 by Tony Ponce

We also speculate on map remakes for the upcoming Advanced Warfare.

At 1 PM Easter / 10 AM Pacific, Activision is planning to go in depth on the multiplayer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with a livestream event. But before we get to that, there's another peculiar piece of news that came out this past week regarding the Nuketown 2025 map from Black Ops II. It seems that the Wii U version of the game has only just received it!

Nuketown 2025 was originally distributed as a Black Ops II pre-order bonus for all platforms. Despite being advertised as receiving it to start with, the Wii U version was mysteriously dropped from distribution. It's only as of last week that players on Miiverse have noticed the map's sudden arrival nearly two years later, just in time for a double XP weekend. Activision's handling of the Wii U audience is the real mystery here — I can't imagine Nintendo players feel like they are properly being served.

Switching gears, we've got that Advanced Warfare multiplayer news coming up later today, so fans are no doubt wondering what new modes or even what new maps will be appearing. Better yet, what famous maps will make a grand return? Nuketown 2025 was a remake of Nuketown from the first Black Ops, and Advanced Warfare already has as a pre-order bonus Atlas Gorge, a remake of Pipeline from the first Modern Warfare. Would Free Fall from Ghosts be coming back? Who knows!

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will land on Windows, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on November 4. It might be coming to Wii U as well, if you are interested.
