Originally slated to run at 900p at 60 frames per second on the Xbox One, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition is getting a day one patch that upgrades the game’s graphics capabilities to 1080p, 60fps.
A Blizzard spokesperson confirmed the detail with the Official Xbox Magazine.
"We've now confirmed that following a day one patch, the Xbox One version of UEE will run at full HD 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second (up from 900p, 60 fps),” said Blizzard.
At E3, Blizzard said that it chose to prioritize the game’s 60fps framerate over resolution, and that the PS4 version of the game was set to handle both 60fps and 1080p just fine, with the Xbox One tailing behind at 900p. This appears to be no longer the case as the new update for the game seems to be utilizing resources previously reserved for the Microsoft Kinect, thereby eliminating the discrepancy between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.
