Assassin’s Creed Unity: Elise, PocketWatch, Combat And Parkour Details Revealed

August 1, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

A fan found interesting things in the latest trailer, including Elise, and a popular guy in a top hat.

A fan has meticulously gone through Assassin’s Creed Unity’s latest trailer, and shared some interesting details.

First off, the scene of Arno stopping the Jacobins from finishing their execution of a noble mirrors the trailer of the first game, showing Altair stopping an execution in Jerusalem. Everything from the jump, use of the hidden blade, and the Templar sword were repeated, making one wonder what hidden meaning Ubi meant to impart with this.

Elise also appears early in the trailer, and as our source speculates, her relationship with Arno may signify a coming together between Templars and Assassins, perhaps to stop the prophesied end of the world?

Now, here’s an interesting part. The trailer actually repeats use of one character, a man with a green hat, multiple times. It might simply be Ubi keeping costs cheap for the trailer, and it might indicate the game will not be filled with unique NPCs.

If the NPCs do not have variation, there is variation in the many weapons that they have. Our source wonders if Arno will get to use them, but I am more curious as to whether these different weapons will require different strategies to parry and counterstrike.

While the trailer is pure cinematic, the combat and parkour shown simulate what will be seen in the final game, so you have every permission to be awestruck by it.

Finally, our source took a close look at Arno’s pocketwatch. Our source revealed that the watch clicked twice in one spot, and one wonders if this has any significance. The watch has the initials A and E embossed at the bottom, and our source thinks it might refer to Arno and Elise, but I honestly think that’s pithy. Creative Director Alex Amancio has revealed the watch is significant, so it’s worth pondering what all of this means.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is set for release on October 28th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
