Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor’s Launch Brought Forward by a Week

July 25, 2014 by Stephen Daly

It seems one simply does move a game’s launch date.

Update: Warner Brothers has released a story trailer at the International Comic-Con in San Diego for the game which you can check out below.

Original Story: Monolith Productions' Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has been brought forward by one week and will now be released on September 30th in North America on October 3rd in Europe.

The game had originally been set for October 7th and 10th in regions respectively, the same date as keys titles such as Alien Isolation and Project Spark. Earlier this week, EA announced that Dragon Age: Inquisition, which was also due for release that week, has been pushed to November.

Rather than a bid to escape the crowded November launch window, publisher Warner Brothers says the move reflects "fans’ excitement over the latest chronicle in Middle-earth" which doesn't seem particularly likely but there you have it.

Shadow of Mordor sees players fill the shoes of Talion, a ranger who has been "banished from death and embodied by a mysterious spirit, is compelled to seek vengeance on those who killed his family and left him to die".

Troy Baker of The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite, and inFamous: Second Son fame, who plays Talion, recently discussed what it's like to be part of the Tolkien universe.

The game is headed to PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
