The Evil Within was originally slated for an August release, but was since delayed for reasons untold and pushed back to an October 21 release. Presenting the game at QuakeCon 2014 yesterday, Bethesda unveiled the game’s new release date, bringing it forward to October 14—a full week ahead of its previous release date. The release date applies to the game’s North American release.
Elsewhere in the world, The Evil Within will be hitting shops on October 16 in Australia and will be available throughout Europe on October 18, publisher Bethesda has confirmed.
Needless to say, fans of the horror genre will soon be able to get their fix with The Evil Within, which is developed by the father of modern video game horror and the creator of the Resident Evil series, Shinji Mikami.
"Shinji [Mikami] asked us for a little extra time with the game, but we're really happy with it," Bethesda VP Pete Hines said. "It's ready a week early, so we're releasing it a week early."
The Evil Within will be out on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC. Check out our E3 2014 preview of the game for further details.
