Final Fantasy Explorers has 4-Player Online Co-op, Coming to Japan in Winter

July 11, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Special Japanese third-party Nintendo Direct reveals more info on the new action RPG and other games.

The quest-taking, monster-hunting, action role-playing game Final Fantasy Explorers will arrive in Japan this winter, according to a special Nintendo Direct from earlier today that covered third-party 3DS games. In addition to some new footage, the Direct also revealed that game will feature four-player online co-op.

Despite the fact that the Direct only covered games scheduled for release in Japan, it would be wise to keep an eye on Final Fantasy Explorers. Remember, the game was trademarked in both the US and Europe last month, making a Western release very likely. It's also just wonderful to see a return to the questing style of the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles spin-off series.

The Direct touched upon a few other 3DS games that don't currently have US plans, such as Dragon Quest X. However, it did announced that Monster Hunter 4G, the Japanese name for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, will be out on October 2, well ahead of its 2015 Western window.
