New Smash Bros. 4 Fighter to Be Revealed on Monday, July 14

July 11, 2014 by Tony Ponce

The next newcomer will get his / her own special live-streaming event.

Just last month at E3, we were treated to three new faces in the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U roster. We won't have to wait much longer to learn the identity of the next combatant, as director Masahiro Sakurai has promised a grand reveal on Monday, July 14, at 7:00 AM Pacific.

What's odd about this particular reveal is that we're receiving official confirmation ahead of time. While past reveals during Nintendo Directs were merely hinted in advance, this one is being announced up front in big, bold letters. Not only that, the newcomer will have a live stream all to him- or herself on the Smash Bros. homepage.

It may be fair to assume that this particular fighter is pretty big news to deserve such special treatment. Sakurai suggests that we are nearing the end of the list of newcomers, so this would be the time to drop the biggest bombs. Who could be left?

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is on track for October 3, with the Wii U version out later in the winter.
