Firaxis has announced that Civilization: Beyond Earth will be released on Steam on October 24th, 2014 and pre-orders will net you the Exoplanets Map Pack.
While past Civilization games have been largely rooted in the past, Beyond Earth is set exclusively in the future and sees people forced to leave Earth after what Firaxis is calling "the Great Mistake," an ambigious incident which has left our planet in a ruined state meaning civilization must rebuild elsewhere in the galaxy.
The game is a spiritual successor to 1999's EA published Alpha Centauri.

Civilization Revolution 2 was released for iOS devices earlier this week if you're looking for something to tide you over until October.
