The Red Solstice Looks Like That Co-op Aliens Game We’ve Always Wanted

July 3, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Red Solstice is an 8-player cooperative experience.

Like the movie Aliens? Wish you could play a game just like the set-up in the James Cameron film? Well, then, The Red Solstice might just be the game to quench your thirst for some tactical humans-against-xenomorphs action.

Developed by Croatian studio Ironward and published by indie publishing label Nkidu, The Red Solstice is set to hit Steam Early Access on July 10. The game features tactical, co-operative survival action set on the distant future of Mars, during a great storm known as The Red Solstice. With support for up to eight players, The Red Solstice offers cooperative play, randomly generated battlegrounds, eight different player classes, customizable equipment, and a bunch of other stuff.

According to the press release, development of The Red Solstice was self-funded by the team until a recent crowdfunding campaign successfully raised an additional $60k to get the game ready for launch.

The team’s decision to launch on Early Access on Steam is to allow the team to receive real-world feedback, and they’ll be doing a bunch of stuff to encourage players to dive in early.

You can check out a video from last year that explains how the game works.
