Edge Magazine Dishes on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

June 3, 2014 by Yesika Reyes

This month’s edition of Edge Magazine gives us a taste of the upcoming game.

Website Charlie Intel was able to give us a look at the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare information revealed in this month's Edge magazine before it hits shelves this Thursday.

"There’s the game’s new facial animation system, powered by technology and techniques that will also be used in the production of James Cameron’s Avatar 2. There is Advanced Warfare’s audio design, whose aim is to replicate not only the sound of letting loose with heavy firearms, but the torso-invading feel of it too," the website revealed.

It seems like aesthetic is a big goal for the studio since it was also noted that they were aiming for photorealism. This is a possible goal with the lastest generation of consoles. The developer also has access to new rendering technology, an abundance of data, and more resources,

There was also an emphasis on the singe-player campaign since most of the folks from Sledgehammer were part of the team at Visceral Games who worked on the first Dead Space game. It was noted how the developer is "convinced that one of the things they can deliver this around is a coherent, meaningful storyline." Interestingly, that sounds like what Battlefield Hardline is trying to do as well with Visceral Games at the helm.

Last month, we highlighted an interview with Activision's Eric Hirshberg and his sentiments towards Sledgehammer taking on the popular franchise.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released on November 4th for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
