Bioware has clarified the details regarding the rumored name of Mass Effect 4.
The rumor mill had been throwing around the possibility that the game could be going for the name Mass Effect: Contact. Presumably, the title would be indicative of the 1st contact between humans and outer space aliens in the Mass Effect universe.

However, Bioware Montreal Studio Director Yanick Roy has revealed that the game does not really have a set name. Rather, they simply have a working title, and he fell short of confirming that it was the name being passed around, so that theory’s shot.
WRT name speculations: the next Mass Effect doesn't have a name yet, just a working title that we have used since day 1 of the project.

It is possible that this is a little misdirection thrown fans’ way, and EA has likely set the game’s name already, but are we really holding that much stock at insider rumors at this point? We hope to report verified details on Mass Effect 4 as they are revealed.
