Dragon Age 3: Inquisition’s World is Bigger Than Past BioWare Games

April 28, 2014 by Yesika Reyes

While the game’s world will be more open for players

UPDATE: BioWare reached out to us to clarify that Cameron Lee was not comparing the game world sizes of Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Lee simply meant that that both are different in terms of how open worlds works.

In an interview with Wall Street Journal, BioWare producer Cameron Lee dished out details about their much anticipated RPG game Dragon Age: Inquisition. It was revealed that the game's virual world will be larger than ones in past games, but nothing as open as The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.

The past games in the series didn't feature much of a sand-box experience. However, the developer aims to bring that experience with their upcoming game. “We recognize the world is deep and rich. Particularly the beginning sequence of the game, we wanted to be really clear about who you are and why you’re important and what matters to you,” Lee told the publication.

The developer also wants the make the game accessible in a sense that newcomers to the series can easily jump into it even if they aren't familiar with the world of Dragon Age. Lee noted that they wouldn't want to force players to watch the comics, novels, and films.

In a recent article, we reported on the Exalted Plains, one of the areas featured in the game's sandbox world. It is a good example of what BioWare is trying to achieve in terms of opening the game's world a bit more. Check out the most recent trailer they released for the game in an earlier post.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released on October 7th for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.
