For Some Reason, Fox is Releasing a Family Guy MMO

June 17, 2011 by Josh Wanamaker

Fox has announced its plans to develop and release a Family Guy MMO, a game that no one’s asked for or really wants.

family guy

Family Guy Online. Let me repeat that. FAMILY GUY ONLINE. It's coming. Fox is releasing a browser-based Unity Engine title built around Seth MacFarlane's popular cartoon series. Repent, for this is a sign of the Apocalypse.

I can't even imagine what the hell was going on in the heads of Fox's executives or MacFarlane himself when they signed off on this. Maybe enormous dollar signs had replaced their pupils? The majority of money they hope to make from this are no doubt microtransaction-based, as the game will use two currencies, cash and "Clams", which are earned by doing things in the game like completing quests and "accomplishing tasks".  The game is apparentlly slated to launch this fall, and a Facebook page and official website have already been set up.
