There are so many great Lego games out there perfect for players of all ages. It’s tough to pick just one, given the number of properties that have been given the brick treatment. We’ve simply chosen a favorite–Lego The Lord of the Rings. In this game, players work together as part of The Fellowship during their quest to destroy the One Ring.
Being a Lego-based game, the narrative is toned down for a wider audience. Meanwhile, the gameplay mixes in button mashing to defeat enemies and plenty of puzzles to solve throughout the campaign. Additionally, this game condenses the entire trilogy storyline. This is just an example of one Lego-based title that you could pick up, but overall, the gameplay mainly remains the same throughout all the various titles.

PC | Xbox | PlayStation | Nintendo
It’s been a little while since we had a new Rayman title release onto the market. This long-running franchise has quite the fan base and you’ve likely enjoyed some of the earlier titles. If not, Rayman Legends is still a great jumping point if you’d like to play a fantastic platformer.
Overall, the game narrative is simple: a dark force has taken over the lands and captured the princesses. Now, it’s up to Rayman along with his friends in order to rescue them. The gameplay is simplistic and involves defeating enemies along with solving some puzzles that will allow the players to progress further into the campaign. What makes this a great co-op game is that the title will allow players to seamlessly drop into the level at any point.

Camera: First Person
Multiplayer: No

Genre: Puzzle, Exploration, Open World, Adventure, Mystery
PC | Xbox | PlayStation
Who doesn’t love a good puzzle? The Witness is nothing but a puzzle game, in which players are dropped on an island filled with puzzles that only get more complex and vague as you progress. The experience is quite soothing and visually appealing, and while it’s a more quiet and laid-back experience, it’s a breath of fresh air.
You might find this game to be a bit less baffling with the help of another player. Unfortunately, this is a single-player video game experience–but the game is all about looking at puzzles from multiple perspectives. It’s a perfect title to hand the controller back and forth.

Players will make their way through the hazardous terrains of the board game in the hopes of winning the match while being tossed into crazy mini-games. Of course, if you don’t have enough players to fill a lobby, you can allow bots to join in and let the mayhem commence.

This is also not a very long title, coming in at around three hours.

Instead, this game is played with two devices as you talk with each other through voice chat.
From there, players must figure out how to solve the puzzles by explaining what is shown on their screens. The puzzles can get frustrating, so talking through the problem is crucial. If you’re after a long game, this one might not be for you, coming in at around two hours.
#8 Outward
Release Date: March 26, 2019 | Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
Camera: Third Person
Multiplayer: No
Co-op: (Local: 2 | Online: 2)
Genre: RPG, Open World, Survival, Souls-like, Fantasy
PC | Xbox | PlayStation
Outward is a survival RPG that can be played with a friend both locally and online. In this game, players are set to survive the world of Aurai, but to do so, they’ll need to be prepared for the worse. It’s all about exploration and questing in this game, with a large open-world map perfect for those with wanderlust. With a map that doesn’t offer any guidance, players will have to figure out not only where to go, but where they are currently located. As mentioned, survival is a big part of this game as well–the world is harsh and you’ll need to monitor your vitals, ensuring your character is not thirsty and has the right gear equipped for the season.
Outside of that, the combat is broken up between utilizing melee-style weapons and spellcasting. So far, two DLC expansions have been introduced to add more content into the world of Outward.

The studio has gone on to create other games, but you’ve likely played Castle Crashers before, or are at least familiar. It’s a hack and slash title where players take on the role of a knight that must defend the kingdom from all sorts of enemies.
Visually, the game is a 2D side-scroller where players face a series of boss battles. Up to four players can join in the battle in what will take most players about seven hours to complete. If you haven’t tried this game yet, you’re missing out on a gem.

Camera: Third Person
Multiplayer: Yes
Co-op: (Local: 4 | Online: 4)
Genre: Casual, Funny, Comedy, Cooking, Difficult
PC | Xbox | PlayStation | Nintendo
Working in a kitchen is tough, but it’s probably not as tough as Overcooked makes it out to be. For those of you who want an over-the-top party game experience, Overcooked is the stress-inducing title for you. In particular, it’s worth diving into Overcooked 2, which comes packed with more levels and more insanity. Within the game, players take on the role of cooks that are tasked with completing dishes correctly and on time–no matter what obstacles are in their way.
With a group of players working together, things shouldn’t be too hard to complete, right? Well, this game throws players into some really wacky kitchens and locations. You’ll find the layout constantly changing and obstacles getting in the way of where you need to go. As a result, players are constantly swapping dishes around and attempting to get everything out in a timely fashion. It’s chaotic, mindless fun that will have players throwing their dishes and ingredients around the kitchen as the clock winds down.

Working together to make the best possible farm manages to be both engaging and eternally relaxing, and most call this the ultimate ‘zen’ game.
#4 Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Release Date: September 9, 2015 | Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch
Camera: Third Person
Multiplayer: No
Co-op: (Local: 4 | Online: No)
Genre: Action, Indie, Space, Cute, 2D
PC | Xbox | PlayStation | Nintendo
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is an indie hit and a very simple game to understand, but as the game progresses, it’s extremely difficult to master. In this game, players are in command of a spaceship where they must explore the galaxy. However, it’s not always that easy, as there are different enemies and hazards you’ll have to face on your trip. Being a big ship, there are several stations located around that make it difficult to quickly move to another area. That’s where having co-op available will come in handy, as multiple players can jump around the ship and maintain attributes such as weapons, shields, and engines.
As you progress you’ll have the ability to make upgrades to give your ship a unique load-out. Furthermore, the levels are randomized so you can always find something new to explore each time you start the game up. However, much like other titles on this list, you can add more than just two players to this game. Developers Asteroid Base has made this title to support up to four players.
#3 Portal 2

Portal 2 offers players a new collection of levels to complete. With the use of a Portal Gun, players can create wormholes that connect. It’s a bit difficult to explain in writing, but once you see some footage you’ll immediately understand the gameplay premise. These levels will have players thinking outside of the box and it can be quite challenging.

You can still play with someone who owns it without having it yourself so long as you are playing with that person. Besides the fun of trying to escape from prison, you can also enjoy fun mini-games like arm wrestling, spearfishing, and more as part of a mode called Grenade Brothers. You’ll definitely want to take advantage of this compelling story with a good buddy.

Human: Fall Flat is a wacky game that was released back in 2016, but its continued popularity has allowed the game to continue on with multiple new ports. This is a physics-based puzzle platformer where players take on the role of a humanoid character who can freely explore the world and attempt to reach new areas by grabbing objects, moving them around, and working with other players. However, because of how wobbly your character moves, it’s typically challenging to get anything done.

PC | Xbox | PlayStation | Nintendo
Unravel is a unique platformer where players control a character made of yarn. To maneuver around the levels and obstacles, players need to ensure that they have enough yarn unraveled and free from any snags. It was during E3 2018 that we received the surprise release of Unravel Two, a new installment that takes the same core gameplay mechanics and adds a secondary player option. Now with two characters, you’ll need to work together to complete another difficult series of puzzles and hostile environments.
With a limited amount of yarn restricting their movement, the game mixes puzzle elements with platforming. It’s a fun little series, though sadly, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting an Unravel Three.

Naturally, things don’t go as planned, but that’s part of the fun. Players will control these characters in both combat and other activities as they attempt to survive from one day to the next. You’ll live together, work together, fight together, and through it all, you’ll grow your relationship. This may is not the game you expected, but it might just be the game you need.
