At long last, Slightly Mad Studios has unveiled their first official trailer for Project CARS: The Ultimate Driver Journey, along with a new release date: starting November 2014. There can be no doubt now, that this will be one of the biggest releases of the year on 8th gen consoles.
Slightly Mad has made it a point to confirm all the platforms the game is slated for; Windows, SteamOS, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Wii U, with Windows seemingly front and center as the lead platform. It’s most likely the footage we’ve seen thus far from fan-investor-contributors, and in this trailer, has been coming from that platform. Obviously, Project CARS’ unveiling as a full 4K PC game was on Windows as well.
The tagline “The Ultimate Driver Journey” is an interesting one too. It implies Slightly Mad Studios has placed emphasis on the career mode of the game. It’s possible they’ve made the entire game around it.
The YouTube description indicates there will be a variety of motorsports, leaderboard time challenges, racing weekends, community events, Historic Goals (perhaps an unannounced partnership with Guinness?) and the Hall of Fame.
Of course, we’ve also seen the games bells and whistles prerequisite to every racer, including day/night system, weather, tuning, etc.
I think, above all else, the most impressive new info is that regarding release. Slightly Mad must be targeting their release around Black Friday and Christmas, to compete with titles from the big AAA developers for the most profitable season. Their ambition for this title is at an all-time high, and I dare say they may actually be living up to their name. We’ll share the latest info on Project Cars as it comes out. In the meantime, check out the new trailer below.
