EA Sports has revealed their next legendary fighter for EA Sports UFC. Introducing UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie.
Royce astounded, even confounded fight fans when he won the 1st ever pre-Zuffa Ultimate Fighting Championship. Much like Bruce Lee, he was not only famous as a martial artist in his own right. He made his martial arts of choice, Brazilian jiujitsu, and his submission based fighting style, famous throughout the world along with him. It could also be argued that Royce’s involvement and rise to fame in MMA helped propel the competition from a ‘no rules’ fighting promotion to a professionalized sport.
Royce, like Bruce, is once again a pre-order bonus for EA Sports UFC, for the welterweight division, although you can unlock him buying it after release if you finish Career Mode.
As great as UFC’s existing roster is for EA Sports UFC, clearly these special legendary unlockable characters have an appeal all their own. Who is up next for the UFC legends treatment? Well, Chuck Liddell and George St Pierre are still active and announced. Personally, I’d like to see Ken Shamrock or Brock Lesnar, if only to have a crossover WWE/UFC guy in there.
EA Sports UFC is coming June 17 to Playstation 4 or Xbox One.
