Zelda Anniversary Collection Cancelled

June 17, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata have shot down plans to release a Zelda anniversary collection.

Nintendo bosses Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata have turned down a Nintendo of American proposal to release of a Zelda anniversary collection to avoid repetition.

Nintendo of America proposed to release a special 25th Anniversary compilation of the Zelda games, but was turned down by their Japanese bosses, who said that doing a collection two years in a row—following last year's release of Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary Edition—was against the company's strategy.

The company will instead be releasing soundtrack CDs to commemorate the Legend of Zelda, in addition to a plan to hold a series of concerts worldwide. The publisher will also be releasing Four Swords through DSiWare for free.
