Microsoft really opted for something new with the video game industry. Instead of relying on players buying their own video game console platform and purchasing games to enjoy it, they opted to deliver a video game service. This Xbox Game Pass service has been around for a little while now and it’s allowed players to get a massive catalog of video games to enjoy right out of the gate. There’s no need to purchase titles anymore to get entertainment.
This subscription service only runs players $14 a month and with it, you get all of the first-class exclusives from Microsoft and quite a few third-party video game titles as well. That’s not bad especially since Microsoft doubled their first-party studio’s thanks to the purchase of ZeniMax Media. While Microsoft doesn’t seem to be interested in keeping certain games off of competitor consoles, it does look like we can expect these games to either land first on Microsoft’s consoles and services or play best on them.
While games are brought onto the service monthly it looks like one of the recent games announced for the December catalog of titles is being removed. Xbox sent out a tweet alerting fans that they were having to pull Gang Beasts from the roster but you can expect to see it come out in the coming year. We’re not sure just when the title will land on the platform, but you can still expect quite a few games to be available with the inclusion of new titles. For instance this month you’ll have the likes of Control, Doom Eternal, Rage 2, and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition.
That’s not all for Xbox Game Pass news. It was announced that PC and iOS users will soon have access to xCloud. This means that players can stream video games from the Xbox Game Pass catalog instead of having to download and install them. Previously, this feature was debuted on Android smartphones with the Xbox Game Pass application. Perhaps in the future, we will see this xCloud function come out to other platforms and devices such as smart TVs.
