Today, we have a nice little troubleshooting guide for you on how to improve battery life on iPhone 5s, specifically for iOS7. You can get as much as 6 to 7 hours working time, and 15 hours on standby.
Is your phone too bright? Go to Settings > Wallpaper & Brightness > Turn brightness down. Also, turn on Auto-brightness.
Is contrast off? The blur effect used in notifications and controls uses battery a little bit. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Increase Contrast.
Are your apps not going on standby properly? Simply put, yes, some of them don’t turn themselves off properly, and their server communications mean they drain battery. Common culprints are Whatsapp and Facebook.
Is parallax effect on? This gives your icons a 3D effect. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce motion.
Are you using a dynamic background? Go to Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose Wallpaper > Stills.
Is background app refresh on? This allows them to gather data when they are inactive. You don’t need to have this on to get push notifications. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh. Turn off individual apps, or everything, at your discretion.
Finally, is auto set time on? You don't want it to keep running if you don't need it. Go To Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically.
Is iTunes auto downloads on? Go to Settings > Itunes and App store > Automatic downloads. Turn them all off.
Is Connections on? OK, so here’s the deal: if you’re in an airport, or a place where Bluetooth / wireless reception is bad, you’re better off turning connections off to save on battery. Turn on Airdrop from the control center.
Is emergency alerts on? This may not be true for everyone, but some regions offer alternate options to stay up to date so that you would not need alerts on. If you have decided you don’t need alerts, go to Settings > Notification Center > Emergency Alerts. Go to the end of the list to turn it off.
Is location services on? iOS uses it as much as your apps does for several functions you don’t need. Frequent locations seems to be a particular braindrainer. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location services > Frequent Locations > System services. You can then go back and choose other functions like iAds, Popular near me, Diagnostics, and whichever you choose.
Is Spotlight Search on? If you’re not really using it, go to Settings > General > Spotlight search, and turn it all off.
Is Siri on? Let’s face it, not everyone uses search tools like Siri that much. Go to Settings > General > Siri. You can turn off raise to speak, or just totally shut it down.
Is push mail on? Go to Settings > Mail > Fetch New data > Turn off Push > Fetch. Choose to fetch mail either manually or set a time for it. Then go back to settings and start over, going to contacts and calendar instead of mail.
