Nintendo is to offer those who buy a 3DS or 2DS a free copy of either Pokemon X or Pokemon Y when they register one of six other games according to a suppoed Toys R Us ad scan sent to GoNintendo by a tipster.
To avail of the deal you'll need to buy one of the handhelds and register a game on Club Nintendo during March. The eligable games for the promotion are Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Yoshi's New Island, Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins, Super Mario 3D Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and Mario Kart 7.
Nintendo announced in late January that since launch in October of last year, 2.1 million 2DS systems have been sold and 42.7 million 3DS handhelds have also been purchased by consumers since Febraury 2011.
Despite this, Nintendo has slashed sales forecasts for the 3DS for the current fiscal year ending March 31st from 18 million to 13.5 million with software sales projections also cut from 80 million to 66 million.
