Microsoft Experimenting with Cheaper Digital Xbox One Games

February 17, 2014 by Josiah Renaudin

Ryse: Son of Rome will go on sale before the launch of its DLC, thanks to fan demand.

Digital games don’t often see major discounts on home consoles, but Microsoft has decided to experiment with selling downloadable games for cheap on the Xbox One. Before the release of the new DLC for Ryse: Son of Rome, the Xbox maker has taken steps to mark down the price of the action title to spark a bit of additional interest.

Studio manager Mike Ybarra claims that this was a repeated fan demand over the last few weeks, so the Microsoft team has decided it’d be worth satiating its audience with a smaller price.

Lot of people asked for better deals on our digital marketplace, so we’re testing some…

If you’ve been interested in Ryse, know that from Feb. 18 to Feb. 24 the Games on Demand version will be available for $39.99. There will be additional discounts for add-ons every day between Feb. 25 and Feb. 27, leading to the eventual release of the Mars' Chosen Pack DLC on Feb. 28.

It’s a step in the right direction, so hopefully we’ll see more major digital games see reduced prices in the near future.
