A PS4 owners has discovered a loophole in Sony's current offer of a free 14 day PlayStation Plus trial for new users which has allowed him to subscribe to the service until 2035 without charge.
VG24/7 reports that the user, whose identity the site chose not to reveal, clicked on the Outlast branded 14 day trial offer for Plus newcomers and, once he'd added his credit card details for renewel purposes, he was asked if he wanted to extend his membership, the interface allowed him to do so in 14 day intervals and he successfully extended his free membership until 2033.
The gamer says:
“I never had PS+ so I decided to give it a try on my shiny new PS4. A new ad in the PS Store advertises 14 days free of PS+ if you have never had the service before."
A day later he checked to see if the glitch was still active and added a further two years to his subscription bringing him up to 2035.
“Once you accept the deal, you are allowed to keep extending the 14 free days for free once prompted after confirmation of the free purchase. All you have to do is keep pressing X and you keep getting 14 free days added to your free subscription. The hundreds of email confirmations from Sony all say $0.00″
Sony has yet to issue a comment on the matter but it's likely that they'll close the loophole soon if they haven't already. As mentioned, it only applies to newcomes to PS Plus.
