Titanfall PC Will Have FOV Slider, No Bullet Penetration Confirmed

February 10, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Titanfall for the PC will come with an FOV slider to tweak the game’s field of view.

One of the biggest problems with console ports on the PC is that the field of view (FOV) is quite often restricted to a very low setting, giving players the impression of being confined in a tight, and claustrophobic space.

Thankfully, this isn’t going to be the case with the upcoming mech-based shooter from Respawn Entertainment, Titanfall. Its developers have confirmed via Twitter that the game will have an adjustable FOV slider for the PC version of the game.

As such, players won’t have to worry about getting nauseous or feeling claustrophobic while playing the game on their gaming rig.

Elsewhere on the Respawn forums, one of the game’s developers (who goes by “scriptacus”) confirmed that there will be no bullet penetration in the game. The reasoning for it is that the developers just don’t see the value in adding the feature into the game.

“Another title having a feature is not the bar by which we justify features. While I'm accutely aware of the benefits of bullet penetration in the tactical shooter genre, with the way this game plays I'm not sure what sort of design space it would really open up,” wrote the developer.

“It's certainly not a feature I find myself missing and I don't even think it qualifies as "something we would definitely have done if we had the time". No doubt we'll evaluate it further depending on our next project, but it's definitely not a no brainer.”

He continued: “It'd take a fair bit of design work to do otherwise, especially with the power of the Titan weapons. From a realistic standpoint you would expect them to be the most effective at penetrating walls, but that would just make life suck for Pilots.”

In short, there will be no shooting through walls.
