DICE Holding Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month all of February

January 28, 2014 by Andrea Castellano

Battlefield 4 rewards players with Battlepacks, double XP weekends and Shortcut Bundles in February.

Starting on February 1, DICE wants to say "thank you" (and probably sorry) to all Battlefield 4 players with the Player Appreciation Month event.

While DICE promises improvements to the netcode will "tighten the overall multiplayer experience," the studio also promises to bring some enjoyment with the return of Platoons. Platoons allow players to create social circles where groups of friends can accumulate kills, assists and points together.

Throughout the entire month, DICE also wants to reward players with a Battlepack each day of February. When players boot up Battlefield 4, a free Battlepack gives XP Boosts and solider camos that DICE claims would regularly take 30 hours of playtime to earn. Weekdays provide players with bronze Battlepacks and weekends give a little extra with silver Battlepacks.

To round off the tiered Battlepacks, players can also earn a gold case. Players can unlock Gold Battlepacks through completing Community Missions. The community wide challenges include objectives like collecting a certain number of dog tags during a specified time. Complete the challenge and players receive a Gold Battlepack containing a more valuable item.

For players new to the game or players who fell behind due to numerous issues, Shortcut Bundles let players unlock all grenades and handguns for the Battlefield 4 multiplayer. Shortcut bundles are free to download on the marketplace during the Player Appreciation Month.

DICE works to resolve the many issues plaguing Battlefield 4, but the studio continues to encounter new problems. An update scheduled for late January or early February promises to bring a "number of stability improvements, tweaks, and fixes." Until DICE can stabilize the multiplayer, DICE has suspended development of all future projects, including DLC.
