EA: Nintendo Is A Great Partner, Has Never Been Dead To Us

January 24, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

COO Peter Moore took to Twitter to shut down speculation stemming from anon sources.

EA’s Chief Operating Office Peter Moore has made a recently interesting comment about Nintendo recently, referring to them as a great partner.

Don’t trust "anonymous sources". Nintendo's a great partner. They never have been, and never will be, ‘dead’ to EA… @EA .

— Peter Moore (@petermooreEA) January 23, 2014

He posted this statement on Twitter in reaction to a story where an anonymous EA developer has said that the company considered the company dead to them very quickly after the Wii U’s release. When prompted to react further, Moore points to his position in the company. As EA’s COO, he knows where the company sees the relationship between the two companies.

@Rob_Crossley_ I know where I, as the COO, and my company stands on this relationship, despite the comments of your anonymous source @EA

— Peter Moore (@petermooreEA) January 23, 2014

As of now, the company has limited their output on Nintendo platforms to FIFA games on the 3DS. This, even as it has revealed a robust lineup for 2014, including Xbox One exclusive Titanfall, EA Sports UFC, Sims 4, and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare.

But then again, we know that whatever bad blood was set between the two over Wii U’s online development has died down. Both EA and Nintendo have affirmed within the past year that the two have good relationships with each other. Both also seemed to agree that EA is not making games for the Wii U until the install base grows, and that the responsibility is on Nintendo to raise that install base with their own games.

While it does not seem like EA will be handing out new games to Nintendo soon, at the least, this affirms EA’s attempt to better their own public image, something they definitely need to do in light of all the controversies that they have been embroiled in in the last year. All things considered, Moore’s statement would be taken more seriously if they walked this talk and made more games for Nintendo again.
