The Elder Scrolls Online Info Blowout from Beta Players

January 14, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Beta players discuss what playing the MMO is actually like.

The Elder Scrolls Online beta players have taken to Reddit to discuss what lies in store for other players when the game launches on PC in April and consoles in June.

Of particular interest is the game's progression system which actually allows you to keep progressing and learn new skills across a wide variety of specialities. One beta player commented:

"You will be able to continually progress by gaining skill points to eventually learn everything, try new builds, take on new roles and play styles. Your character will not be simply a Rogue or a Paladin static and unchanging. There is a LOT of build diversity."

As with other Elder Scrolls games, players will level up their skills through extensive use and unlocking skills and passive abilities is said to be the same as Skyrim's system.

There was some criticism of combat early in the game which is described as overpowered and not particularly engaging however, other users said this was to get people used to the fighting style of the game and that after leaving the starting island the combat becomes very intense and most dungeons require a party in order to make your way through.

There's said to be little to gain from entering the game with the intention of fast leveling and that you'll spend much of your time simply exploring the world which players say looks beautiful and while quests are said to be Skyrim-like beta participants say you should not expect The Elder Scrolls Online to be Skyrim with co-op, it is very much its own game.

The Elder Scrolls Online is reported to have a $200 million budget and will retail for $60 with a monthly $15 subscription fee.
