There’s Going to be a New Tekken Movie

January 13, 2014 by Stephen Daly

For some reason.

Japanese site Cinema Today reports that a sequel to the 2009 Tekken movie will soon be in production.

Actor Kane Kosugi (Godzilla: Final Wars, DOA: Dead or Alive) announced that he's starring in the movie which will be titled Tekken – A Man Called X. The film is being directed by Prachya Pinkaew, who helmed Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior and The Protector.

The last movie was of such poor quality Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada apologised for it on his Twitter account:

"That Hollywood movie is terrible. We were not able to supervise that movie (It was a cruel contract) I'm not interested in that movie."

A release window for the movie has not been announced. The last Tekken film launched in cinemas in Japan and had English screenings in Singapore but when straight to DVD in the West.
