After multiple setbacks, the standalone version of DayZ created by Dean "Rocket" Hall is now ready to be purchased. At least, if you’re willing to put up with the early access version of the game.
Before, players interested in experiencing the zombie-themed mod would have to boot up Bohemia Interactive's Arma 2 and run a program meant to add a bit of an undead flair. It wasn’t exactly a quick, easy process, so the long-awaited launch of DayZ Standalone should have a large crowd excited to launch Steam and pay the $29.99. As previously stated, though, this is early access. That means that you can, and likely will, experiences a few hiccups during your playtime. Glitches are common during these early periods, but if you’re just too excited to wait for the final retail release, now’s the time to jump in.
