Bungie has announced the release date of Destiny as September 9th, 2014 and revealed that the beta for the game will be arriving on PS3 and PS4 during the summer.
On Bungie's blog, the development team wrote:
"Today, in partnership with Activision, we are proud to announce that the worldwide launch of Destiny will happen on September 9th. Accordingly, the Destiny Beta will kick off in the summer of 2014, available first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3."
The post added that Destiny marks a "new beginning for our team" and that Bungie wants to "redefine what players can expect" from the creators of Halo.
Destiny is also coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The game was announced back in February and earlier this week a great deal of information about the title was revealed in the latest issue of GameInformer with details on races, locations, and more emerging.
Bungie believes players will find reason to "visit over and over again" and they certainly have high hopes for Destiny which they think will be compared to Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings.
Destiny is the first Bungie game specifically developed for PlayStation platforms. 2001's Oni was ported to PS2 by Rockstar Toronto.
